Description

Winter Wonderland transformed discarded Christmas trees into a temporary urban forest, inviting visitors to reconsider the relationship between nature and the built environment. Installed in Floridsdorf, Vienna, the project interrupted the rhythm of everyday urban life by reintroducing a familiar element of the forest into an unexpected public setting.

Composed entirely of post-holiday trees, the installation explored the shifting value of natural resources once they have fulfilled their intended purpose. Rather than treating the trees as seasonal waste, the project proposed a second life for the material, creating a landscape that encouraged pause, observation, and collective reflection.

Positioned between public art and environmental awareness, Winter Wonderland questions cycles of consumption and disposal, suggesting that temporary interventions can reveal new relationships between ecological systems and everyday urban experience.
