Description

Conceived during the period of social isolation in 2020, Mirrors of the Moon explores the relationship between object, memory, and place through a series of illuminated mirrors shaped after the outline of Mexico. Combining reflective surfaces with concealed backlighting and handcrafted wooden structures, the project transforms a familiar geographic silhouette into a functional domestic object.

Rather than functioning solely as a mirror, each piece investigates how everyday objects can evoke cultural identity and personal connection. The illuminated contour emphasizes the country's recognizable form, while a series of collaborations with graphic artists introduced distinct visual interpretations that expanded the project into a collection of unique editions.

Positioned between furniture, lighting, and sculpture, Mirrors of the Moon reflects on the capacity of domestic objects to carry narratives of belonging while remaining rooted in craftsmanship and material experimentation.
