Mexican Textiles

Product development was carried out for the Design Promoter Center in collaboration with the National Fund for the Promotion of Crafts (FONART), mostly with artisans working with a backstrap loom in rural communities, to create Mexican textiles.

Handicrafts in Mexico are often undervalued, and one of the issues is that the products have remained the same for a long time, resulting in a lack of interest from the national market in purchasing another table runner or a bag with the same color scheme. Therefore, we engaged in co-designing new products. The artisans used the backstrap loom technique, which requires a significant amount of time and special attention to detail.
